During the murder trial for Demarcus Little, who is accused of killing his girlfriend Anitra Gunn, a friend testified and revealed the possible motive for the killing, WSB-TV 2 reports.
Jaivon Abron, one of Little’s friends, told the court that on Feb. 16 the suspect said he confessed his feelings for Gunn on Valentine’s Day 2020 and afterward she “laughed in his face,” according to WSB-TV 2. Little allegedly said that he blacked out and then hit and choked her.
According to WSB-TV 2, the victim, 23-year-old Anitra Gunn, “vanished” on Valentine’s Day in 2020. A few days after she was reported missing, her body was found in a “wooded area of Crawford County,” according to WSB-TV 2. Little, who was Gunn’s boyfriend, was arrested for her murder on Feb. 26, 2020, as reported by WSB-TV 2. Prosecutors suspect Little strangled Gunn to death on Feb. 14, and the accused is currently on trial in Peach County.
The latest development in the trial is Jaivon Abron’s testimony. Abron, who’s a friend of Little’s, gave the jury insight on what may have motivated Little to murder Gunn.
According to Abron’s testimony, after Little allegedly made his confession to Abron, Little said, “I don’t know what happened.”
Abron then told the court that Gunn fought for her life, but eventually gave up. She allegedly told Little that she wanted to “go home to be with her mom.” Gunn’s mother passed away in 2014, WSB-TV 2 reports. Per Abron’s testimony, Little said, “I had to get rid of her.” Abron then went with Little to retrieve a car bumper that was left near where Little allegedly disposed of Gunn’s body.
Abron’s recounting of the murder comes after text messages between Gunn and Little were revealed in court. An hour-long reading of the correspondence gave the jury insight into the relationship between the accused and the victim, as reported by WGXA News. In the various text chains shared, Little threatened and “manipulated” Gunn, according to Gunn’s text, as well as another man Little believed Gunn was going on a date with. A few weeks before Gunn’s disappearance, Little asked if she was upset with him. She responded that they can’t be on good terms due to his behavior, and she mentioned that he stood outside her home “begging for a hug and a text.”
According to WSB-TV 2, Abron has been charged with “tampering with evidence and making false statements to police.”
