GMA3 anchors Amy Robach and T..J. Holmes have been indefinitely taken off the air after allegedly having an affair together. According to Page Six, ABC News President Kim Godwin announced the network’s decision during an internal call on Monday. Speaking with staffers, Godwin said the alleged affair had become too much of an “internal and external distraction.”

“After a lot of thought, I am taking Amy and T.J. off the air as we figure this out,” the president said.

The alleged affair was “not a violation of company policy,” according to Godwin, but the company had to take them off the air to protect the GMA brand.

ABC National Correspondent Stephanie Ramos and Transportation Correspondent Gio Benitez hosted GMA3 on Monday, telling viewers “Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes have the day off.”

A source who spoke with the Daily Mail said, “There is massive confusion internally.”

“ABC News executive Kim [Godwin] has taken them off the air while they deal with this internally,” the source told the Daily Mail.

Robach and Holmes dominated headlines last week after the Daily Mail posted photos of the pair holding hands in a car and sharing a laugh at a bar.
