Big Sean is in full swing promo mode for his upcoming fourth studio album I Decided which is set to drop everywhere on Friday, February 3. The Don visited Trevor Noah at The Daily Show where they discussed the new album, the water crisis in Flint, Michigan and more.

As a Michigan native, Sean has always been loud and proud about where he hailed from. Although Flint is about an hour away from Sean’s home-city, Detroit, he is very aware of the contaminated drinking water crisis they have been undergoing since April 2014. Through his Sean Anderson Foundation, he was able to raise $100,000 for the people of Flint.

“I just know it’s not even close to being over. In that situation, I feel like, it’s not a natural disaster,” Big Sean says. “It’s something that should’ve been prevented and could’ve been prevented, so it’s just disgusting to think about the damages that these families and even kids have to go through with the lead poisoning.”

He went on to get a little personal in the interview when he explained that his own mother suffered the effects of lead poisoning due to the contaminated water. “It was very hard for her to deal with, but she was able, through holistic care and homeopathic remedies, was able to reverse a lot of the effects of lead poisoning.”

He revealed that he featured the Flint Chosen Choir on the song “Bigger Than Me,” the last track that will be featured on the new album. He expressed that he was happy to have Flint be a part of his album in that way. Click here to learn more about and to donate to the Sean Anderson Foundation.
