I remember getting my first crystal. It was a malachite; this shiny green stone with rings all around. When I held it, I felt an instant connection. Now, I have more than 20 crystals, including that malachite. But for the newbie who wants to incorporate crystals, but doesn’t know where to start, here’s a quick rundown of the wonderful world of crystals.

What are crystals?

They’ve been around for thousands of years, with people using them for decor or jewelry such as diamond rings, necklaces, etc. However, crystals are also known for their healing properties.

For centuries, crystals have been used by healers, priests and royalty to aid them with life situations and health. Today’s uses are very similar. Crystals are used to keep great energy in the home, enhance one’s love life, create financial abundance and much more.

Picking crystals

The best way to pick a crystal is to pick the one that you gravitate toward. The one whose color and/or shape intrigues you. Trust your gut to guide you to the crystals you need and research about them later.

Activating crystals

“I activate you to protect me from anything that may harm me.”

” I activate you to help strengthen my voice.”

“I activate you to heal past traumas.”

“I activate you to bring sweet love into my life.”

Cleansing and charging crystals

Crystals are like energy filters. They weed out bad energies and provide good ones. And, like filters, they can get clogged.

Great ways to cleanse them include:

Hold them under running water
Smudge them with sage
Use another crystal, such as Quartz and Citrine

After cleansing, recharge your crystals using one of these methods:

Place your crystals underneath the sunlight or moonlight
Bury them under dirt for a few days

These methods bring your crystals back to the elements from which they came, putting them back in rare form.
