Emotional support animals have become a routine part of the airport experience, with people bringing buddies along like dogs or cats. One woman, though, attempted to bring her emotional support squirrel.

According to USA TODAY, a woman boarded a Frontier Airlines flight heading to Cleveland from Orlando with her furry companion. Before takeoff, it was discovered she had a squirrel rather than a more traditional support animal and was escorted off of her flight.

When asked to deplane, the woman refused, causing a two-hour delay. Law enforcement had to come aboard the plane and move other passengers to the terminal as they tried to reason with the woman and her furry friend. Eventually, both the woman and squirrel were escorted off the flight.

Per protocol, the woman had informed the airline she was bringing an emotional support animal when she made her reservation but didn't specify what kind of animal. As CBS News reports, Frontier considers cats and dogs acceptable emotional support animals, but rodents do not qualify. Squirrels fit in the unacceptable rodent category.

As the woman was escorted out, she flung her middle finger at the applauding crowd and told them to "shut up."
