When it comes to loving black people for real, Solange Knowles puts in that work. Today, Harvard University gave Solange her much-deserved flowers by crowning the songbird 2018 Harvard Foundation Artist of the Year, reported Billboard.

According to the Ivy League website, The Harvard Foundation works to “improve relations among racial and ethnic groups within the University and to enhance the quality of our common life.”

In order to do this, the Foundation says it "seeks to involve students of all racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds in the ongoing programmatic enterprises of the College and University and to highlight the cultural contributions of all Harvard students. The Foundation sponsors annual programs and activities that are designed to promote diversity, inclusion and equity in the interest of interracial, intercultural and inter-religious understanding and harmony in the Harvard community."

Solange is being honored for the chart-topping and critically-acclaimed album "A Seat at the Table" which contributed to the cultural conversation surrounding self-identity, black power, cultural appropriation and more.

"Solange has invoked themes of identity, empowerment, grief and healing that have resonated with millions of voices that routinely feel silenced or overlooked," Harvard's press release said.

Knowles will be honored at the annual award ceremony on March 3, 2018. Congrats, Solange!
