Hey, sis. You good? Right now, my only concern is to check-in to make sure that you´re connected to good things in this season.

We have now entered the final stretch of 2020, which we call ¨Q4.¨ Q4 represents different things for many of us. This period could represent revitalization and strength, solitude and tranquility, or spirituality and wholeness. For me, Q4 represents intention. Dictionary.com describes intention as “an aim or plan.”

In my reflection, I realized I have not always had the best intentions, which caused me to burn a lot of bridges approaching various situations with the wrong intent. In an effort to change, I developed three life pillars for myself, personally and professionally, which are: intention, integrity and impact.

Once I acknowledged what I wanted to change about me, I began to alter the plan and direction for where I was headed, simply due to the halt of 2020, better known as COVID-19. I stopped viewing the year through a bitter lens, thinking about all the things I wasn't able to accomplish, and started viewing it through the lens of how it could make me better: the skill sets I was supposed to develop, relationships I was supposed to face, situationships and entanglements I was supposed to end and how I was supposed to stretch myself professionally and academically. If you notice, I over-stress the word “supposed,” which ultimately means the things you need to do — and 2020 has forced me to deal with my needs.

I often think that in the end, 2020 is indeed the perfect year for us to face all of the things we ignored. For me, 2020 has been the perfect year to close out my 20s because I’ve been able to finally acknowledge that I was already in the midst of the transformation that I desperately needed. In other words, the change that I deeply needed to occur was already happening within.

It was in this transformation I learned and leaned into my purpose and passion for life. Largely due to reading ‘How You See It: The Power of Perspective’ by author, B.Lin. In the book, she speaks about perspective through the lens of optimism and encourages us to see life on the bright side. ¨You can either let life throw you off or right into place. Everything you’ve gone through serves a purpose. It’s time to permanently shift perspective to that of positivity.¨

I encourage you all to lean into your purpose in Q4. Align and connect so that you can permanently shift into who you were ultimately created to be.
