Africa Children’s Television and Film Foundation (ACTFF) – a children’s media production hub located in Kampala, Uganda, that produces a wide range of projects in children’s entertainment – has announced the completion of the 4 episodes of a new docu-drama series on child, early forced marriage under the project called “Emotionally, Physically, Am Not Ready.”

Produced by Film Garage studio as a commissioned and sponsored by Canada Fund for local Initiatives, the 4-part series is being produced for television broadcast as well as online streaming.

It’s said to be the first ever regional television program dedicated to breaking media silence on child, early and forced marriage and work around the major factors that have led to an increase of in the practice in countries like Uganda and Burundi, where there’s a lack of legal protection for the children, as well rampant poverty and the influence of cultural or religious factors.

The show futures renowned comedian Anne Kansiime as the moderator/presenter/Narrator of what is expected to be a provocative, motivational documentary drama series that also strives to entertain while informing.

“We are really honored and excited to be the first Media related organization to break media silent about this vice in Uganda and Burundi,” Said Mark Kimanje, Executive director Africa Children’s television and film Foundation. “During the production of this project, we accounted lots of untold stories that gave us a clear vision on how we will approach the rest of the eight episodes to be filmed in Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania.”

Partners on the project include Film Garage Studio in Uganda and SOJPAE in Burundi, and the Canada Fund.
