Hosea Chanchez has joined the cast of Black Lightning for its second season, Shadow and Act has learned.

The actor, most known for his role in The CW/UPN and BET series The Game, will recur this season as Marcus Bishop.

The character is described as “a secret ASA operative in league with Dr. Helga Jace (Jennifer Riker). Codenamed Shakedown, he possesses the ability to generate vibrations and frequencies at will. Irreverent, bitter and impulsively violent, this ex-Air Force officer killed his superior officer when he was passed over for promotion because of a poor performance review. At Ft. Leavenworth, he signed with Dr. Jace and embraced his role with the ASA, taking great pleasure in producing a high body count on his covert missions.”

A version of Shakedown appears in the DC Comics as a mercenary and member of the Masters of Disaster who is an enemy of Black Lightning.

Chanchez was last seen in the TV One movie Down for Whatever and also appears in the movie Fanatic, which will air on BET in February.

Black Lightning returns from midseason break Monday, January 21 at 9 p.m. on The CW.

The series stars Cress Williams, China Anne McClain, Nafessa Williams, Marvin “Krondon” Jones III, Damon Gupton, Jordan Calloway and James Remar.

In Black Lightning, Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams) is a man wrestling with a secret. Choosing to help his city without using his superpowers, he watched his daughters, Anissa (Nafessa Williams) and Jennifer (McClain), grow into strong young women even though his marriage to their mother, Lynn (Adams), suffered. Almost a decade later, Pierce’s crime-fighting days are long behind him…or so he thought. But with crime and corruption spreading like wildfire, and those he cares about in the crosshairs of the menacing local gang The One Hundred, Black Lightning returns – to save not only his family but also the soul of his community.

Based on the characters from DC, Black Lightning is from Berlanti Productions and Akil Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti, Salim Akil, Mara Brock Akil and Sarah Schechter. Tony Isabella created the Black Lightning character with Trevor Von Eeden.
