No, Beyoncé was not high in that 2001 interview, she really does just love whales.

Beyoncé sat down with ELLE Magazine UK to promote her upcoming IVY Park collection.

For the cover story, Queen B took questions from fans via email, Instagram and Facebook instead of sitting down with an interviewer — ensuring her hive got answers to questions we’ve been wanting to ask for years.

One fan asked the “Drunk In Love” singer about that famous interview from 2001. Destiny’s Child had sat down with Dutch outlet Toazted. During the interview, Beyoncé can be seen munching on something and appears to be tired. When the interviewer asks what animal they’d like to be, the mogul didn’t have to think very long.

“I know what I’d be. A whale,” she quickly responded.

“I love whales. I’ve loved whales since I was a little girl,” she replied when asked why.

"She wants to touch one one day," her comrade and fellow Destiny's Child member Michelle Williams added for further context.

Williams relayed that she wanted to be a black panther in a most colorful way, to which her groupmates excitedly went "ooooh."

"I like when they walk, their backs go like that and when they step, they step better than I do," Williams explained. "They step with a stride and graceful so when I walk out of here, I'm going to step like a black panther."

It's unclear if this was how Williams indeed left the interview. But Beyoncé added she'd write a song for Williams titled black panther. To date, we know of no such song.

While everyone had thought she had been smoking marijuana before the interview, the mogul has confirmed Mary Jane was not with them. In the ELLE interview, one fan asked her: "If you could be an animal for a day, would you still be a whale?"

“I still love whales. And I love being in the ocean. And that video was after a 16-hour press day. Not marijuana!!” she responded.

For anyone wondering, Kelly Rowland said she'd be a bird because they can fly and that's pretty dope.

Beyoncé also addressed her love for Target, confirming she shops at the retail store just like the rest of us. One supporter asked via Facebook if we’d ever see the “Partition” singer in a supermarket or Target.

“The last time I went to a supermarket, it was more like a bodega before a Madonna concert. Jay and I snuck into one in Crenshaw and bought some Cuervo and Funyuns chips. And… y’all know you see me at Target and I see y’all trying to sneak pics,” she answered.

Blue Ivy’s mom also let her fans know which question to never ask her.

“‘Are you pregnant?’…Get off my ovaries!”

Let her be thick in peace.

Throughout the interview, she touches on fashion and what’s to come from her athleisure brand IVY Park. This time around, the company is focusing on unisex pieces after realizing how may men enjoyed wearing the brand, while also taking inspiration from her own style.

"I focused on designing a unisex collection because I saw so many men in IVY PARK. The way they have embraced the brand is an unexpected gift," the 38-year-old said. "I appreciate the beauty of gender-neutral clothing and breaking the so-called fashion rules. I love experimenting with fashion, mixing high and low, sportswear with couture, even masculine and feminine. This new line is fun and lends itself to creativity, the ultimate power.”

When IVY Park first launched in 2016, Beyoncé partnered with Topshop owner Sir Philip Green. But in October of 2018, Green was accused of sexual harassment, bullying and racial abuse, according to The Independent. Beyoncé promptly cut ties with Green. Her entertainment company, Parkwood Entertainment, became the sole owner of the athletic leisure brand.

“I took a chance on myself when I bought my company back. We all have the confidence in us to take chances and bet on ourselves,” she said.

After ending the Topshop relationship, Beyoncé met with other companies to collaborate with, as Blavity previously reported. It was then announced that IVY Park would be teaming up with Adidas, allowing the brand to release sneakers for the first time. The next IVY Park collection is set to release January 18.
