Michelle Obama celebrated Baltimore step team Lethal Ladies, in the wake of Trump’s hostile remarks about Rep. Elijah Cummings and the mostly Black district he represents.

Lethal Ladies has been performing since 2009 in their hometown where they were established with “sisterhood and integrity.” Obama posted a video to Twitter from 2017 of herself watching the group perform and even joining in on some of the moves.

“Michelle Obama taught us, when someone is cruel or acts like a bully you don’t stoop to their level. Our motto is…When they go low we go high!” the group rejoiced as they began their perfectly executed step routine.

"On #NationalDanceDay, I'm shouting out the Lethal Ladies, a Baltimore STEP team who I saw perform back in 2017. I’m so proud of you all—and everyone who’s dancing today," Mrs. Obama wrote as she shared the video.

In a Saturday Twitter tirade, Trump described the Baltimore district as “a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess.” Adding that, “No human being would want to live there."

Rep, Elijah Cummings has been a brutal bully, shouting and screaming at the great men & women of Border Patrol about conditions at the Southern Border, when actually his Baltimore district is FAR WORSE and more dangerous. His district is considered the Worst in the USA……

According to the HuffPost, Trump’s recent and vicious comments towards the city of Baltimore were a response to Cummings' stance on the conditions of immigration detention centers the southern border. Cummings is the head of the House Oversight and Reform Committee.

As previously reported by Blavity, a number of leaders who claim the Maryland city as their hometown didn't take Trump's comments lightly. CNN anchor Victor Blackwell gave an emotional retort to the denigrating comments.

“I don’t want to sound self-righteous, but people get up and go to work there," the reporter said during a Saturday CNN segment. "They care for their families there. They love their children who pledge allegiance to the flag just like people who live in districts of congressmen who support you, sir. They are Americans too.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi denounced the president's comments as “racist attacks."
