Despite a tight, heartbreaking finish in the women’s 400m final, U.S. women’s track superstar Allyson Felix made history Monday night in Rio.

Felix was neck and neck with Shaunae Miller of the Bahamas for Gold when Miller dove in for the win. It was literally so close.

This dive has cause people to cry foul on social media. Some were confused how that dive was allowed, campaigning that Felix should have taken the Gold.

It feels like diving is something you shouldn’t be able to do. What a close finish in the 400m.

So Shaunae Miller won a gold for the new event of land diving, apparently.

Allyson Felix won a gold for running the 400m, in my opinion.

Others defended Miller’s win and said she earned it.

Allyson Felix is great, but Shaunae Miller deserved the win.
I think she was tired & stumbled at the end, but intentional dives are allowed.

Even though she didn’t get Gold, Allyson Felix made history. With 7 medals, she is now the most decorated women’s track athlete in American history.

Despite injuries and the possibility of not returning for this Olympics, Felix did it and did it pretty dang well. She had stated earlier that this would be her last Olympic games. We are proud of you Allyson and congrats to Shaunae Miller!
