Mary Newton, the mother of Tamron Hall, just celebrated her 72nd birthday, but people cannot believe that’s her actual age. Hall shocked her followers when she posted a photo of her mother on Instagram on her birthday.
“72 years old where !!?!” the talk show host wrote on the post. “Happy Birthday to my day one, my ace, and my Queen. Happy Birthday Mama. 72 and an all new you. We love you. Go shorty!!! It’s your birthday.”
Many people followed up with similar expressions of disbelief.
“72??????? Chile, black women. All I can say,” journalist Jemele Hill wrote on the Instagram post.
“She looks so young!” NBC News reporter Kristen Welker added. “Happy Birthday to your beautiful mama!”
Hall followed up with another photo of her mother smelling her birthday flowers.
“Thank y’all for celebrating with my Mom. It meant so much to read all the kind words and birthday shoutouts. #tamfam. 72 and many more flowers to enjoy,” the TV host wrote.

Hall has also been praised for the stunning beauty she still shows off at age 51.
“I am proud to be 51 now!” the talk show host told her audience last year. “And it is so exciting just to have those 50 years under my belt. I can’t wait to see this next part and I’m tallying all of the experiences and taking notes from all of the amazing women, like my godmom who is in the audience, who taught me to embrace every year and to live it to its fullest.”
