It’s easy to assume those with fame and fortune are always happy. However, that isn’t always the case, especially for award-winning actress Taraji P. Henson.

During a recent interview with the Angie Martinez IRL podcast, Henson shared that she hasn’t been “purely happy in a long time.”

“I thought I was happy, but the things that I thought — I’m gonna get emotional; I don’t want to — the things that I thought was making me happy, they don’t; they don’t cut it anymore,” the actress told Martinez when asked how happy she is. “So I’m in a place where what does that look like? And I’m kind of spinning because I don’t know.”

But the Empire star is working on finding her happiness. She has a month-long trip to Bali soon to discover what truly makes her happy.

During the interview, the actress revealed she would take an extended trip to the province to spend time with herself and hopefully find the things that bring back joy into her life.

“I’m about to go to Bali for a month by myself. It’s my own spiritual journey. I gotta find my happiness,” she shared. “And it’s not in my friends. It’s not in my mama. … It’s me.”

She added, “I’m still here. I’m still living. So that means I still have time to find [happiness]. And it’s work. And it’s okay because it’s for the benefit of me.”
