I was actually wondering on the status on this film today…..

Evangelist and film producer mogul T.D. Jakes and his company TDJ Enterprises/Film Bridge International are on board to executive produce and develop a domestic marketing and distribution strategy for the Winnie and Nelson Mandela love story Winnie, which stars Jennifer Hudson and Terrence Howard.

Winnie, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year and was received with not-so-warm reviews, has been in limbo for months now. TDJ Enterprises/Film Bridge are the executive producing company behind last year's Jumping the Broom and will support the upcoming remake release of Sparkle, starring Whitney Houston.

The company is also behind last month's Hollywood Black Film Festival's opener A Million Colors, directed by Peter Bishai and based on the real-life stories of Zulu men Muntu Ndebele and his friend Norman Knox.

Let's not forget Jakes' involvement just this month in the successful release of Woman Thou Art Loosed!: On the 7thDay via Codeblack and AMC's Theater program.

"Stories like Winnie and A Million Colours are important historically and socially. Collaborations like this offer us a unique ability to provide the global community a window into African culture through the creation of quality content," said Jakes to THR

No word on when Winnie will screen next; we should hear something soon enough.
