R&B singer Teyana Taylor‘s final tour, The Last Rose Petal 2, is coming to end, but Taylor isn’t going out without a bang.

The mother-of-two, whose currently in Europe on the tour’s last leg, was pleasantly surprised last night with the presence of one of her biggest inspirations — Janet Jackson.

At the conclusion of her London show, a relaxed Taylor unbuttoned her pants and was ready to wind down as usual. However, when she went backstage to join her team, she was shocked and speechless to find musical icon Janet Jackson waiting for her. Jackson greeted Taylor with a proud look and a warm embrace. When Taylor asked her mentor about the show, Jackson gave her approval, saying she “really enjoyed it.”

Taylor shared pictures and videos of the very moment when she found out Jackson flew to the U.K. to support one of the shows leading up to her musical retirement.

“London had me in shambles & crying like a full blown baby,” Taylor shared on Instagram.”The love, the energy, the raw emotions, the vibes, THEE ICON JANET JACKSON!!!!!!!!! Do u hear me?!!! LONDON WAS UNMATCHED. I’m shoooookkkkkkk!”

Taylor also thanked her U.K. fans for packing the house one final time.

“You showed out and OVER sold out. It’s been a long time coming! London I love you so much! Thank you for loving on me to the fullest, thank you for rocking with me! Thank you for making one my last bows one of the most magical & a night I will never forget,” she wrote.

Of course, the singer/dancer had to gush over being surprised by her idol once again.

“Thank you @janetjackson for the beautiful surprise. IM STILL GAGGINGGGGG,” an excited Taylor wrote. “Def one of the greatest surprises of my life. Thank you for ur loving words always…. No matter how close our bond continues to grow, I will always still be one of ya biggest fans! Thank you for always being so genuine & being an inspiration to us all! You are the reason I give 134667643% when I hit that stage. You are the blueprint. I love you Queen.”

Last Fall, Teyana Taylor announced that she would be retiring from music. This decision came after years of frustration with the logistics within the music industry throughout her career as a singer. The last straw was Taylor’s dissatisfaction with her label (GOOD Music and Def Jam) following the release of her last album, The Album, in June 2020. She shared about her disappointment in more detail on Instagram Live.

“The majority of what that post was to warn my label who I’ve been signed to for almost 10 years. Everything that you guys see of me, everything that I put out, everything that I do is 100% me,” Taylor said. “There’s no gun to anybody’s head to do anything that they don’t want to do. So yes, I am going to feel underappreciated if I’m putting in 110% and my label is giving me — they’re reciprocating, what, 10% of that.”

Taylor wanted to do something special for her fans and celebrate her music with a farewell tour, The Last Rose Petal, which was a 12-city tour that took place last November.

Fans thought they may never see her again, but the “Bare Wit Me” star surprised them when she announced additional dates of the ‘The Last Rose Tour 2’ in May.

Taylor is closing out her tour this week in Europe — her final show is on Sept. 8 in Paris.
