The 15-year-old began previewing the new track on social media earlier this month, noting that she was hyped to bring something for her OG supporters.

“Music is my first love and I can’t wait to show all my Day-1 fans what I’ve been working on,” That Girl Lay Lay captioned a July 15 Instagram post.

The music video features Lay Lay with a plethora of other teens cutting up around a high school. Notably, a number of the people in the video are wearing graphic band T-shirts for artists like Aaliyah, Selena, Janet Jackson, Nirvana, Def Leppard, Outkast, The Notorious B.I.G. and Tyler, the Creator.

A little while into the video, the teens perform a dance routine, though it’s ultimately shut down by an adult attempting to stifle the kids’ good time.

Later, this same adult also prevents Lay Lay and her friends from attending the school dance, as they supposedly violate the dress code with their outfits. However, proving that she’ll indeed do what she wants, Lay Lay and the others go outside to perform their dance routine rebelliously and still have a good time.

This new single comes just days after the season 2 premiere of That Girl Lay Lay’s eponymous Nickelodeon show. The series debuted in September 2021 and swiftly became a success among audiences.

While this Nickelodeon role helped propel the 15-year-old to further recognition, don’t get it twisted: That Girl Lay Lay has been in the studio churning out hits years before the show.

Some of her other hits include songs like “Go Lay Lay Go,” “Tik Tok” and “For Me.” Notably, she’s also collaborated with stars like Young Dolph and Bun B, and she did a song called “Supersize XL” alongside fellow child stars Lil TerRio and Lil Blurry.

Shoutout to That Girl Lay Lay, and we can’t wait to see what else she accomplishes as her career continues.
