Sony Home Video has released the Halle Berry thriller The Call, on DVD and Blu-ray.

Brad Anderson directed, with Abigail Breslin and Morris Chestnut co-starring.

The WWE Studios and Troika Pictures joint production is set against the backdrop of a 911 call center, with Berry playing a 911 emergency operator who takes a call from a teenage girl (Breslin) who has been abducted and carried away in the trunk of a car.

Written by Rich D’Ovidio (Exit Wounds, Thir13en Ghosts), the $13 million film opened in theaters on March 15, and went on to gross over $51 million, which is actually pretty good considering how poorly it was reviewed.

As for extra features, both the DVD and Blu-ray contain a commentary track and an extensive making-of feature. The Blu-ray adds an alternate ending, deleted and extended scenes, Michael Eklund’s audition tape, a set tour of the call center “The Hive” and the killer’s lair, and a featurette on the movie’s stunts.

I was curious about this alternate ending, and how different it is from the ending we all saw at the theater, when the film was out.

Wonder no more what the alternate ending is, my friends, because we now know.

… The alternate ending is really an extended ending with Halle and Breslin walking off into the sunset.  Nothing juicy here.

So there ya have it! “Nothing juicy” is right. If you saw the film while it was in theaters, you’d agree. But I won’t spoil it for you.
