I admit we get so caught up with big box office weekend numbers that sometimes we overlook other successes that fly under the radar. They may not make $55 million in a weekend like Paranormal Activity 3 , but still they’re impressive in their own way.

Here’s a perfect example, Kevin Hart’s stand up comedy/sketch film Laugh at My Pain, produced by Jeff Clanagan’s independent production company Codeblack Entertainment, and which was distributed at exclusively at AMC Theaters nationwide.

The film was produced for only $750,000 and to date has grossed $7,555,936, making it, in ratio to its production cost, to its total b.o. take so far,, one of the most financially successful independent films this year.

And the film still continues to make money, possibly adding another million before it ends its theatrical run.

And the ancillary life of the film on DVD, Netflix downloading, cable etc is endless.
