Past Emmy Awards have been graced with controversy due to lack of diversity. During last year’s awards show, questions arose over the lack of winners that were people of color and many argued that the awards were catered toward males. Fortunately, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has appeared to create one of the most diverse nomination pools in Emmy history. Over twenty black actors, actresses and writers have been nominated for the highly-coveted awards and continue to raise the bar within the entertainment industry. Here’s a list of this year’s nominees to watch out for.
