For as long as I can remember, doctors and nutritionists have always emphasized that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It’s something love to remind everyone of, especially if you’re dieting at the moment. But now a new study has come along and turned our worlds upside down with some new information about just how important breakfast is.
A study published in Pediatric Obesity found that eating two breakfasts a day is actually better than not eating breakfast at all. The study was completed by researchers at Yale University and the University of Connecticut.
Researchers followed middle-school students from 5th grade to 7th grade. Through their long study, they found that the children who had a double dose of breakfast ironically had the same average weight gains as their peers who just ate once in the morning. But the study also showed that kids who skipped breakfast were actually found to be more obese or overweight than those that ate breakfast twice.
Though many of us don’t realize it, the key to losing weight is 80 percent what we eat and 20 percent exercise. To see better results in your weight loss journey, try eating breakfast twice a day. According to this study, it seems to be the major dieting key.
