Love is complicated. Filmmaker Seye Isikalu dissects it all in the short film, The Ocean.

The film lets us peek into the life of a couple played by Nikki Fagbemi and Alexander Aplerku. Underneath all the beautiful cinematography and the deep connection of this couple, stems the question – how far would you go to lose yourself for the one you love?

The Ocean is based on the Isikalu’s poem called “Plot Twist,” which depicts “the struggle that occurs when a person is unable to evenly distribute the love/commitment between the ‘who’ & the ‘what’, resulting in the gradual deterioration of one.”

The film also features music from Louis the Child, D.R.A.M and Fela Kuti.
