Particularly when it comes to Black love, dozens of celebrities took to social media to show that nothing could stop them from celebrating the holiday. While some celebrities expressed their love with luxurious gifts, others sent heartfelt messages. From Barack Obama's tribute to his family to Offset's bizarre and pricey gift to Cardi B, here's how a few celebrities observed Valentine's Day.

Former President Barack Obama sent a touching tribute to his family

Former President Barack Obama warmed the hearts of his social media followers with a photo of himself with his beloved wife Michelle and daughters, Sasha and Malia. He wished them a happy Valentine's Day and praised their way of making him smile.

"Your dazzling light makes everything brighter," the 44th president wrote to his family in a tweet.

Offset purchased an unusual gift for Cardi B

Rapper Offset chose an expensive method of expressing his love, purchasing a $20,000 Chanel golden birdcage for his wife, Cardi B.

Diddy dedicated a message to his fans

Diddy came up with a message for all his fans sharing a photo of himself on Instagram with the caption, "Happy Love Day from LOVE."

John Legend treated fans to a virtual concert

John Legend chose to do what he does best, dedicating a 45-minute virtual concert to his fans on the eve of the holiday.

"Just want to send you guys some love," the artist said in the video. "We've been doing this since last March when we thought the pandemic would last for maybe a few weeks. It lasted more than a few weeks. I love y'all. I'm gonna sing some music."

Singer Lucky Daye teased his fans ahead of Valentine's Day, writing that he's set to release something special on the holiday, which turned out to be the release of a "visual poem" to accompany his recent EP, Table for Two

Magic Johnson showcased photo of his younger days with his wife, Cookie

NBA legend Magic Johnson posted two photos of himself and his wife, Cookie. One picture came from the couple's younger days while the other was a more recent image.  

"Happy Valentine’s Day to my beautiful wife and forever Valentine," Johnson wrote. "I love you more and more every day and thank God for you! I look forward to many more years celebrating our love!"

Joy Reid only wished a happy Valentine's Day to democracy supporters

MSNBC correspondent Joy Reid used Valentine's Day to make a reference to Donald Trump's impeachment trial, which concluded on Saturday with the senate choosing to acquit the former president, as Blavity previously reported

"Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone who loves democracy," she wrote. "To everyone else?"

While many around the world are celebrating Valentine's Day, Black lovers have also chosen to honor each other on February 13, which has become known as Black Love Day. 

Actor and musician Diggy Simmons recently spoke with Blavity to offer dating advice ahead of Black Love Day, as Blavity previously reported.

"I'd say just use the internet in general to your advantage," Simmons told Blavity, offering advice for singles. "This pandemic came at a time where technology is so advanced. I mean, even down to just being able to contact anybody via FaceTime, what blessing that is for us to be able to connect with people in a way that doesn’t feel so distant, right? So I'd say, use all this new technology that we have, to your advantage and get creative."
