After a week of HBO Max cancellations, the streaming service has revealed a renewal–The Sex Lives of College Girls is getting a third season.
The Mindy Kaling-executive produced show has been the top Max Original series with Dec. 8’s episode setting a new record for the series with an audience double the number of viewers for the 2021 series launch.
Suzanna Makkos, EVP, Original Comedy and Adult Animation, HBO Max said in a statement how the series encompasses the college experience.
“Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble continue to brilliantly capture the college experience in the most entertaining and relatable way. This series is the perfect balance of comedy, sex, curiosity, and chaos, and we can’t wait to see what the next season brings,” Makkos said.
Starring Pauline Chalamet, Amrit Kaur, Reneé Rapp and Alyah Chanelle Scott, The Sex Lives of College Girls follows four roommates finding themselves and love at the fictional Essex College. Season two brought audiences back to the girls’ lives after fall break, “tackling the challenges thrown their way at the end of season one, and facing their next semester filled with new faces, parties and predicaments,” according to the synopsis. Other cast members include Mekki Leeper, Christopher Meyer, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Lolo Spencer, Renika Williams, and Mitchell Slaggert.
The series is created by Kaling and Justin Noble, who serves as showrunner and executive producer with Howard Klein. Kaling International produces the series with 3 Arts Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television.
