The American iteration of The Traitors has set a civilian-only version of the reality competition series that will air on NBC.

As NBC states, “Instead of the guest list of celebrities and socialites, this time Emmy-winning host Alan Cumming is opening the doors to his now infamous castle in the Scottish Highlands to everyday people. There he will ask them, “Are you a Faithful? Or are you a Traitor?” 

Season 1 of Peacock’s ‘The Traitors’ had a mix of civilians and celebrities

If you remember correctly, Peacock’s The Traitors Season 1 had a hybrid of both civilians and celebrities/reality television vets. Season 2 began a format of celebrities and reality television alums only. The format around the world differs, with some having civilians, celebrities, or a hybrid like the first U.S. season. The UK iteration notably has civilians only and is introducing a celebrity spinoff later this year. with The Celebrity Traitors.

When will production on the non-celebrity ‘The Traitors’ on NBC begin?

Production on the NBC version of The Traitors will commence in 2026.

Season 3 of The Traitors is one of the most lauded and awarded reality series of the year, nabbing five Emmy nominations. It was also the No. 1 unscripted series in the United States when it premiered. Season 4 of The Traitors on Peacock premieres in 2026, and it has already been renewed for a fifth season.
