The View co-host and fan favorite Sunny Hostin has been vocal about the pervasive racism that has shaped and defined America. Sadly, speaking about racism comes with its detractors, to whom Hostin is no stranger to.

In an instagram post on Saturday, Hostin addressed racism, relaying her experience as an Afro-Latina woman.

“A Saturday lesson — We all want racism to be a past atrocity that is abolished in institutions, policies, systems and is replaced with equity and equality. FYI – people in my TL – it won’t happen by pretending it doesn’t exist. Also won’t happen by not talking about it and not telling your kids about it and the history of this country, warts and all,” Hostin said.

She made the post earlier this month:

“Also, won’t happen by questioning my experience as a person of color and by denying that you have privilege. Also, yes I’m successful and that doesn’t mean that racism doesn’t exist and that I still experience it. It just means that my success makes me the exception and not the rule,” Hostin continued. “Oh yeah, and my pointing out racism, doesn’t make me a racist, a race hustler or a race baiter.”

The Bronx native recently expressed how 'The View' needs to seek out a co-host with conservative views who doesn’t spread misinformation in the light of Meghan McCain's exit.

In a profile interview with The Cut, she explained, “Right now, we still do need a really conservative voice. I also believe it’s really important to not have someone on the panel who spreads misinformation, who adheres to the big lies, who is an anti-vaxxer, because I think that’s dangerous.”

“I think she thinks that people did not like her or treated her a certain way because of her opinions. I certainly don’t share any of her opinions … at all … about anything … but I don’t feel that way about her,” Hostin said of McCain. “I can’t claim to understand her because I think she’s very complicated. Her experience is her experience. No one can say that she didn’t experience it in that way because it’s hers. I didn’t see it that way. I didn’t experience it the way she did. But I’m going to defer to her that she experienced it like that.”
