The View‘s Sunny Hostin is not only slamming the Supreme Court, but she’s also slamming the Republicans for hypocrisy.
All of the ladies on the panel have given their take on the recent gun control law being into effect and the history-making decision from the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v Wade. Prosecutor turned co-host Sunny Hostin has shared her opinion on both.
She says little progress will be made amid recent Supreme Court decisions
In the wake of the Supreme Court voting to overthrow Roe v. Wade, Hostin says she’s not optimistic about improvement regarding gun control. Hostin shared her thoughts during a roundtable discussion on the June 29 episode.
“I don’t think that we’re gonna see much more movement on this, especially with the way the Supreme Court is going. Now you have Clarence Thomas writing an opinion that says you can have your guns anywhere. You can have them not only in your home, you can have them outside,” she said.
She says considering the number of mass shootings and killings in general due to gun violence points to hypocrisy on the politicians’ end in terms of respecting and valuing life. “I think we’re seeing so much hypocrisy, quite frankly, from not only the Supreme Court, of course, but from republicans, because if you truly are pro-life, you cannot be pro-life and also be pro-death penalty and be pro-guns,” she added. “There’s just no way that that is consistent.”
Her comments came after she shared she doesn’t agree with abortion under any stance due to her faith but disagrees with the Supreme Court’s ruling
Hostin is a devout Catholic and recently shared controversial views on being pro-life. While talking about legal abortions being left up to each state to decide, Hostin elaborated on her view.
“I don’t believe in abortion, at any time. I don’t believe in any exception to it.” When Sarah Haines asked, “Even incest?,” Hostin answered, “No, I don’t. I don’t."
She doubled down on how the court’s decision contradicts their reversal of Roe v Wade. “The court is basically saying it’s time to welcome all this new life yet we can shoot them with our newly available, completely unrestricted guns. That conflict, it was sort of shocking to me,” she said. “It’s unbelievable that precedent doesn’t seem to matter anymore.”
