Stephanie Grisham revealed on The View that her teenage son was disappointed in the fact that she served as the White House press secretary for Donald Trump.
According to The View, Grisham opened up about her experience when the panel turned the conversation to Florida’s controversial “Don’t Say Gay” bill, which is expected to be signed into law by Gov. Ron DeSantis. Sunny Hostin blamed Trump for emboldening sexual discrimination.
“We have been on this path, I’m sorry, since your boss…your former boss took office,” said Hostin, according to The Wrap.
"He started saying the quiet part out loud, the discrimination became transparent and blatant. And this is the result of it."
Grisham agreed with Hostin, adding, “I have a 14-year-old son who is gay, recently came out as gay–which I have his permission to talk about, by the way–and he didn’t want to tell his friends where I worked. You know, he was like, he was ashamed of where I worked, rightfully so.”
Grisham said that the slogan of “Don’t Say Gay” is “making children feel different. And there’s a problem, or, it’s creating a problem I don’t think there is.”
Grisham’s conversation is one of the few conversations with a conservative voice that has been tolerable and understanding. The View has had problems in the past with conservative pundits who have used The View’s platform to push harmful agendas, particularly when it comes to the coronavirus pandemic and governmental response.
