Sunny Hostin and Stephanie Grisham got into it on The View over Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
According to Decider, Hostin and Grisham, who guest hosted this week, argued over about calling Rep. Greene names, particularly “idiot.” Hostin was enraged by Greene’s tweet insinuating that Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson ruled in favor of pedophiles, as well as insinuating that Sens. Mitt Romney, Lisa Murkowski, and Susan Collins are “pro-pedophile” because they are in support of confirming Jackson.
Hostin called Greene an idiot, leading Grisham to say that calling Greene an idiot will only embolden the far-right to vote for horrible policies and individuals. "They [the right] close ranks and they double down adn they will come out voting too," she said.
However, Hostin said, “[s]ilence is being complict…You gotta call an idiot an idiot when you see the idiot. It thinks it’s really taking down our country.”
Grisham said she doesn’t want Hostin to be silent, but said calling Greene an idiot was akin to calling the Republican party idiots. “I agree it’s taking down our country. You can’t call people, Republicans, these names,” she said. “You can’t dneigrate my neighbors in the midwest!”
Hostin said that she was only calling Greene the idiot, with Whoopi Goldberg asking Grisham, "Do you think it's idiotic for a Republican to call one of the Bushes a Nazi?"
“I think it…is not a smart answer,” Grisham said, clearly refusing to call Greene out on her lies. Grisham also got heat from The View audience online, with many saying that it doesn’t make sense that she doesn’t want harmful Republican rhetoric called out when she worked for Donald Trump in his administration.
At any rate, it still seems like The View is ready to keep making money on the political divide instead of embracing truths everyone should be able to agree on, such as Greene being out of touch with her harmful statements.
