Wanda Sykes decided The View wasn’t the right fit for her.
According to The Daily Beast, the comedian was set to appear during last Friday’s episode of The View. But because of the show’s decision to bring Alyssa Farah Griffin, a former Trump administration member, on as a guest co-host, Sykes declined the invitation.
Sources told The Daily Beast that Sykes didn't want to be a part of a former Trumper clean up her public reputation.
While The View and Sykes haven’t commented on the report, Sykes’ decision–if true–doesn’t seem farfetched. The View has made many fans angry with it is insistence on bringing on controversial conservative pundits, several of whom have had positions within the Trump administration.
Many feel like the show's production team's decisions to bring in people from the extreme right are not only providing a platform for people who have helped bring the country to where it is today, but also continues escalating the damage.
This was made increasingly clear during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when the show saw certain pundits spread misinformation about the illness and its prevalence. While the guests might help ratings, it’s pertinent to wonder what kind of harm having guests who are ready to willfully misinform people will have on the country at large.
