Lindsey Granger is giving The View its conservative element once again by discussing her feelings about the Jan. 6 hearings.
Whoopi Goldberg opened up the floor during Tuesday’s episode of The View, according to Decider. She said that she thought it was an issue that Fox News won’t show footage from the Jan. 6 hearings. “The number one cable news network does not think this is a newsworthy thing,” she said.
"…They're betting you didn't see what you saw. Most Americans saw what happened [at the Capitol Jan. 6, 2021] and so they're doing exactly what you'd expect Fox to do," she continued. "It's like, listen, if you're that concerned about a lie, you should watch and make sure that people are not lying, but you'd have to watch to know that they're not lying, I guess that's ass-backwards."
However, Granger said that Fox News is airing it, “maybe not on the news channel but on their business network.” To that, Behar said that nobody’s watching their business channel.
“And they’re also providing it, available on all digital platforms,” said Granger. “You know everybody’s online, so I don’t want to hear that you can’t find it, ’cause you don’t need a subscription.”
However, Hostin challenged Granger on her assertion that the news was available to all, saying, "I think it's such a disservice to their viewers that they've peddled all this misinformation over the past couple of years, but they're not allowing their viewers to actually see the Jan. 6 committee, don't you think?"
Granger said that she does think that people should watch the coverage, but, in an attempt to play semantics, she asserted that “the average Fox News viewer has seen this play out over and over again.”
“…People understand exactly what happened and so what is the smoking gun here? What is the breaking news? People will tune in once the Department of Justice says okay, here are the charges.” She also asserted that viewers are probably focused on closer-to-home issues, like gasoline price hikes and baby formula. But Goldberg responded that people can “have more than one thought in their head.”
"…I think we do a disservice to the public when we suggest that they're not thinking about those things as well, they are," she said. "But we also want to know that when we fall asleep, we're not going to wake up in some new country."
Granger is one of the semi-regular conservative voices on The View, and while she does represent a Black presence, she still adheres to the main conservative talking points, which puts her at odds with the rest of the more liberal panel. However, it seems like she doesn’t annoy The View audience as much as other Republican commentators.
