Wendy Williams is facing a conundrum with the ratings of The Wendy Williams Show. According to BET, the ratings for her daily pop culture show have gone up during her absence.
BET reports that according to The Wrap, the ratings for The Wendy Williams Show have gone up 33 percent in household ratings. The guest hosts who have entertained audiences during Williams’ absence, which is attributed to health reasons, includes Devyn Simone, Bevy Smith, Elizabeth Wagmeister and Michael Yo, and Leah Remini, with the latter of whom has reportedly made Williams antsy due to her success with the audience.
Williams has been trying to come back to filming, but health issues have prevented her from making her season return.
The new season was originally meant to premiere Sept. 20, but was postponed twice, including dates Oct. 4 and Oct. 18. The postponement occurred due to Williams admitting herself to a New York City hospital for a psych evaluation, according to TMZ.
She has also suffered from a breakthrough case of coronavirus. She has been released from the hospital and is still recovering.
In October, a rumor was published on Page Six of Nick Cannon’s new daytime show possibly taking Williams’ current daytime slot due to Williams’ health.
Williams’ prior season has been wobbly to say the least–several times during her “Hot Topics” segment, she has made inflammatory statements that have offended audiences and Hot Topic subjects alike, including vegan star Tabitha Brown and the family of slain TikTok star Matima “Swavy” Miller.
“Wendy has always been a messy person,” Miller’s mother Chanelle Clark said to TMZ. “That’s what her life consists of, this gossip and reporting stories but this is not just any other story. This si not a highlight. This is not a hot topic, this is our real life.”
