The Young and the Restless just announced a shocking casting announcement that will see the return of a legacy character and a character that hasn’t been seen on the canvas in literal decades.

Shemar Moore will return to the CBS sudser in his iconic role of Malcolm Winters, and he’ll be joined by Vivica A. Fox, who is reprising her role of Dr. Stephanie Simmons for the first time since 1995.

Details on the episodes and when they will air

CBS is remaining mum on the details, but we know that the actors will be there for a multi-episode arc which began taping on Tuesday, and the characters’ return will have “will have shocking and lasting implications for the residents of Genoa City.” The characters of Malcolm and Stephanie had a romance which was brief during the latter’s time on the show.

The episodes are slated to air sometime in April.

Moore played Malcolm Winters, the half-brother of Neil Winters (the late Kristoff St. John) from 1994 to 2005. He reprised the role briefly in 2014, 2019, and the most recent time in 2023, in an episode to honor St. John. Fox played Simmons for a year or so from 1994 to 1995.

Black Hollywood staple Fox first got herstart in soaps before moving to primetime television and films, being on Days of our Lives in 1988 and Generations in 1989 before Y&R in 1995.
