Two sets of Black twins are running circles around their peers.
La'nisha and Ron'nisha Richardson graduated at the top of the Yazoo City High School class of 2020, being named valedictorian and salutatorian respectively.
Both La'nisha and Ron'nisha left Yazoo with 4.1 GPAs and have big things ahead of them.
La'nisha has her eyes set on becoming a physical therapist after completing her degree at Mississippi State University, and Ron'nisha is planning to go into the medical field after joining the Air Force.
“I actually have a goals list and on the top of that list it says ‘valedictorian of Class of 2020,’ so it was always in my head,” La'nisha said."It’s our work and we have to get it done, she makes sure we get it done and if we don’t get it done, it’s gonna be a problem."
"We definitely credit our mom when it comes to making sure we are on top,” Ron'nisha told WAPT.
Ron'nisha said it hasn't hit them yet that they've officially been named valedictorian and salutatorian but that they were excited to celebrate their achievements.
"Now that we know that we can't walk these halls anymore, now that we know we're not gonna see our teachers, it's time to get ready for the real world. It's time to get ready for college and to do what we gotta do," La’nisha added.
Despite excelling in school, the twins went on to say that it was far from ideal to go without attending their commencement ceremony or prom. Millions of other high schoolers have had to find ways to celebrate their achievements because of COVID-19.
One parent held a personal graduation ceremony for his daughter, and other kids have taken to social media to shout out all of the schools they got into and scholarships they have received.
Another set of Black twins, Arianna and Arielle Williams, are making waves in Milwaukee after securing acceptance letters from 37 colleges and over $1,000,000 in scholarships.
"Honestly we were pushing for 40 college acceptances, but we ended up getting like 37. I was like oh man, but we still did good," Arianna told local news outlet TMJ4.
Like the Richardson twins, the Williams sisters are graduating from The Dr. Howard Fuller Collegiate Academy at the top of their class, CBS 58 reported.
The Williams sisters will also be going into the healthcare field like the Richardson twins and have decided to focus on nursing at Marquette University in the fall.
"As students at Dr. Howard Fuller Collegiate Academy, Arianna and Arielle Williams have set a tremendous example as scholars and citizens for four years. We couldn’t be more proud of their growth, choices and their ability to persevere with joy in the face of obstacles," Principal Judith Parker told CBS 58.
"They have traveled, organized community service projects, met Michelle Obama and represented our school inside of our walls and throughout our city. We are proud of them and the entire Class of 2020 and excited for the next chapter in their lives as they take this same drive to college," she added.
Although the Williams twins have not officially been named valedictorian and salutatorian, they are happy with their academic success.
"I honestly have two chances of winning either through me or my sister, so it's like either one of us is fine with me," Arianna said.
