On April 20, a group of young boys playing basketball stopped their game to kneel in respect for a funeral procession passing by the court.
One of the funeral goers, Lynn Bickham Bienvenu, who is a cousin to the person who passed, shared a picture of the young boys on Facebook. The picture was taken without their knowledge, which pays tribute to the fact that these young men were not looking for fame or thank-yous, but instead simply wanted to acknowledge the grieving and the dead.
The caption of the photo reads: “While attending a family funeral the procession passed a group of young boys shooting hoops. Take a look closely. They took a knee not out of disrespect but honor. They was not an adult insight to tell them to stop playing. This meant a great deal to our family. May God bless each one as I feel they will achieve greatness. ”

The boys were playing on Franklinton Junior High School’s outdoor basketball court when Bienvenu’s sister, Johanna Stroud took the photo that has now been liked on social media by over 5,500 people.
“Hats off to these young men for showing such respect!” One person commented. “Parents, teachers and perhaps religious leaders can be proud. This just broke my heart… still good kids with good parents out there.”
According to WLTX, the students at Franklinton Junior High School are taught to kneels in the presence of a procession in order to show respect, and the young boy’s well-taught manners have earned the heart of the internet.
