After a decade of turmoil, Tiger Woods has new athletic awards to add to his extensive collection.

The legendary golfer won his fifth Masters and 15th major tournament on Sunday, marking the first time he has won either award in over a decade, reports the New York Daily News. Woods took home his last Masters in 2005, and a major win followed three years later.

After throwing up a deserved fist pump, Woods ran off the green to hug his son, daughter and other loved ones who were there to cheer him on. The moment was reminiscent of the embrace he shared with his late father when he won his first Masters in 1997.

“It’s come full circle,” Woods said. “My dad was there in 97, and now I’m a dad. … I’m at a loss for words. There was my dad — he shouldn’t have been there, he was recovering from a heart attack, heart surgery. To have my boy, Charlie, that embrace, it’s just special.”

Woods’ mother was also there to see her baby win, according to CNN.

"That was 22 years ago, when my dad was there and then now my son's there, my daughter was there, my mom's there,” he said. “My mom was there 22 years ago and the fact that she's still around, still kicking, still fighting, goes to show you her resiliency.”

The victory marked a triumphant return for the champ who faced a career-ruining injury and highly publicized personal issues.

Woods underwent spinal fusion surgery in 2017, his fourth operation on his back, to help with pain from several wounds to his back and legs, according to PGA. In addition to physical pain, Woods reputation was tarnished in 2009 when his marital issues were publicized. Reports of his infidelities which preceded his wife's attempts to go upside his head with a golf club dominated headlines. Woods was treated for sex addiction but was unable to save his marriage. He divorced ex-wife Elin Nordegren in 2010, according to the New York Post.

Woods is currently in a relationship with Erica Herman, who used to manage The Woods Jupiter, a restaurant he owns, reports WSB-TV. The couple has been together since 2017.

The golfer admitted putting on another Masters green jacket is “surreal.”

"I know I have the green jacket on but it's just, it's still, I think it's going to take a little bit of time to sink in,” he said shortly after his victory.

Woods believed he could win another title, but he didn’t think it would happen on Sunday.

"I knew it was in me, now did I know it was going to be this week? No. But I had a good feeling that the way I was shaping the golf ball that I was going to be in the mix," Woods said.

"Now being in the mix and winning a championship are two totally different things. The last two major championships, yeah I was in the mix, but I didn't win.”
