TikTok users have encountered an old fashion hack to help one find the perfect size bottoms without taking a trip to the nearest fitting room.

In a recent TikTok video, a user filmed the jean hack demonstration while shopping with a friend.

“If you don’t feel like trying pants on in the store, all you have to do is put them around your neck like this,” the user said as her friend wrapped the waistline around her neck.

“If they don’t touch, they won’t fit you, and if they cross over each other too much, then they will be too big on you,” she said in the video.

In 2020, Billie Newland’s viral TikTok video also aided women in fashion hacks.

At the time, the 25-year-old Iowa native shared another hack involving using your forearm to decipher your pant size. Newland says the best way to measure the waist is using the length of your forearm from your elbow to your wrist.

“I was folding my jeans when my elbow actually got caught in the waistband, and then I realized my elbow to wrist fit in the band, so I thought it could either be a coincidence or might actually mean something,” she said. “I tried the elbow to wrist trick on a bigger pair I had just washed, and there was more of a gap, so I thought maybe I could be onto something,” Newland told Insider.

Newland has tried the hack on men saying she asked her father, boyfriend, and friends to put the jean trick to the test, and they all found it worked.

“When I shop now, and I’m confused about a brand or my size, I will definitely use it because I get an answer right then and there without having to take it home and try it on or try it on in the store,” she said.

The hack has also gone viral with over 1.6 million views at the time of the interview.
