An upside-down eyelash, a pound of bronzer and highlighter on each cheek, and a T-shirt-wrapped head; For many social media users, these images all together conjure up one memorable face: "Rosa," a character created by Adam Martinez.

The San Antonio native debuted his Rosa alter ego in early 2020, and Martinez–who uploads under the user name @adamrayokay–has risen to social media stardom since!

Martinez has become such a recognizable online presence at this point that he recently did partnerships with both Target and Uber Eats —while playing his Rosa character, of course!

Earlier this week, the 22-year-old creator switched gears and opened up to his fans–specifically, his 6.7 million TikTok followers–about a more personal subject— his weight lossIf you've been following Martinez, you may have seen him reference his weight loss journey before. In May, he addressed his slimmed-down figure in a before-and-after Instagram post.

"I see a bad bitch in both photos, but believe me when I say this… there's a way more happier [sic] bitch on the right. I AM CRYINGGGGG Y'ALL," he captioned the upload. "It feels so amazing having my health and my happiness be my number one priority."

"I honestly couldn't have done this without the help and support from all of y'all, so I wanted to give a HUGE thank you to my best friends in the entire WORLD," he continued. "My journey has just begun, and I can't wait to share the rest of it with you all."

In his recent TikTok on the matter, Martinez shared some more details about what inspired him to begin losing weight in the first place and he shed light on just how serious the situation was.

"Whenever you guys first met me, I was at one of the highest weights I had ever been at 462 lbs—a super, super unhealthy weight for me and my body. And I was super scared," he began.

"Since I can remember, throwing it back all the way to like middle school, I have been overweight. And as the years went by, it gradually just got worse and worse and worse and worse," Martinez continued. "[It got] to the point where I would go to doctor's appointments, and they would tell me if I continued at that rate, I wasn't going to be able to live past a certain age."

Martinez then revealed that he had seen loved ones die from obesity-related complications, and this served as a wake-up call to try and live a healthier lifestyle. However, it was by no means easy.

"From there on out, my life was basically just me trying different diets, different exercise routines, and none of it working for me. And it was so hard for me to accept the fact that I was just not able to do it by myself. It was so draining."

At this point, Adam Martinez revealed that he lost weight via gastric bypass surgery. He then proceeded to say the procedure "genuinely did save [his] life."

"Some people who are overweight are able to successfully lose weight 100% on their own without any surgery, and that is such a huge accomplishment, and it's so, so, so dope. I myself couldn't, and I needed my tool, so that's what I did," he said.

"Since then, I have lost over 200 pounds, and that makes me so, so, so proud of myself to be able to overcome the challenges that I face. Finally, being in a healthy body just feels amazing, [and] I just couldn't be happier," he revealed.

While he's made massive progress so far, Martinez then stated that the entire journey is still just beginning.

"My weight loss journey has literally been everywhere, and I feel like it is just getting started," he said.

"Tomorrow, I am doing something that also comes with people who lose a large amount of weight, and I am so excited, and I cannot wait to share it with you guys!"

While it's not entirely clear what he was referring to in this last comment, he recently shared an Instagram post that shows him recovering in a hospital bed.
