Comedian and actor Tim Allen's past comments involving the use of "n****r" have resurfaced following a viral interview on the Toy Story 4 press tour.
The accusations of racism were sparked, in part, by a clip from a Tuesday interview with media personality Blog Xilla. Actor Tom Hanks and Allen were asked about the popular Black card game "Spades" in a segment called "Black Jeopardy."
“Do you bid 9? Or do you bid 10 go wells and go all out for it?” the journalist asked the two.

Without hesitation, Hanks, who is the voice of Woody in the Toy Story franchise, answered the question with "10." Allen, however, struggled a bit.
“I don’t have any idea what you guys just said,” Allen replied. When asked if he knew how to play, Allen conceded and said that he did. “I’m just going to say I do because I want to move on.”
He then questions whether he should go make himself a cup of coffee.
As benign as the moment was, Twitter users poked fun at Allen's lack of "Spades" knowledge. Despite ill-informed perceptions of the social media responses, folks were not actually calling the Home Improvement star racist for not knowing how to play the game. Some tied his evident discomfort to his questionable past.

Tim Allen: Should I get a cup of coffee or somethin’?
Offscreen Voice: The coffee is Black, Mr. Allen.

The past they referenced was only five years ago.
According to The Guardian, the voice behind Buzz Lightyear once defended his choice to use the "n****r" in his stand up routines during a Tampa Bay Times interview in 2013.
"If I have no intent, if I show no intent, if I clearly am not a racist, then how can 'n****r' be bad coming out of my mouth?" asked Allen. The comic, who claimed to use the word regularly in his standup, added that "[the phrase] 'the n-word' is worse to me than n****r."
Conservatives were quick to miss the nuance behind his latest behavior and the historical context behind them. They came to his defense because the right considered the "controversy" to be an attack on a popular conservative Hollywood actor.

Tim Allen is trending right now because he doesn't know how to play the card game spades, which apparently means he is racist. My Lord, these are stupid times.

As Heavy pointed out, the outspoken conservative actor was never accused of being racist by co-stars.
