Fox Nation host Tomi Lahren issued an apology after tweeting an offensive question to Sen. Kamala Harris during Wednesday night's Democratic debate. The far right political pundit asked on Twitter if Harris had fought for her ideals "or did you sleep your way to the top with Willie Brown?"

Lahren continued on Wednesday night with more tweets, attempting to double down on her misogynistic rhetoric, including one where she attached an article from USA Today in an effort to show the words coming straight from former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown.

In the piece, which quotes a letter he wrote for the San Francisco Chronicle, Brown admits to dating Harris in the past and also admits to helping her career with endorsements. He also states that he helped the careers of other prominent California politicians that he did not date.

"I have also helped the careers of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Gov. Gavin Newsom, Sen. Dianne Feinstein and a host of other politicians," Brown wrote in the San Francisco Chronicle's published letter. "The difference is that Harris is the only one who, after I helped her, sent word that I would be indicted if I 'so much as jaywalked' while she was D.A. That’s politics for ya."

With the backlash mounting, Lahren apologized Thursday morning for her words and promised to keep her attacks against Harris more in bounds.

“I apologize for my comment on Kamala’s personal relationship,” Lahren wrote on Twitter. “It was the wrong choice of words. There are many other things to take her to task for and I will stick to those.”

Lahren has used this relationship as a talking point against Harris in the past. According to Media Matters, the January 29 edition of Final Thoughts, her weekday afternoon program on Fox Nation, used the story and featured the chyron “Kamala’s Affair Boost.”
