Back in August, we posted that R&B singer Alicia Keys would make her directorial debut with the segment “Lili” in the Lifetime Channel TV movie Five, an anthology of five short films depicting the journey of women battling breast cancer.

Well, the momentous occasion is nearly here – the star-studded film will have its premiere tomorrow night, October 10th at 9pm ET/8pm CT.

“Lili” follows Lili, a fiercely independent, career-minded woman (Rosario Dawson), who recruits her sister (Tracee Ellis Ross) to help tell their hard-nosed mother (Jenifer Lewis) that she has breast cancer. As they work through their past issues, Lili’s mother and sister ultimately become her strongest allies when she needs her family the most. Lili also stars Jeffrey Tambor as a male patient diagnosed with breast cancer.

Keys is one of five noted female directors that each helm a segment of Five. Others include Jennifer Aniston, Demi Moore, Independent Spirit Award winner Patty Jenkins (Monster) and Penelope Spheeris (Wayne’s World).

Other members of Five’s all-star ensemble cast include Academy Award nominee Patricia Clarkson (Pieces of April), Lyndsy Fonseca (How I Met Your Mother), Ginnifer Goodwin (Big Love), Josh Holloway (Lost), Taylor Kinney (The Vampire Diaries), Jennifer Morrison (House M.D.), Kathy Najimy (WALL-E), Bob Newhart (Horrible Bosses), Annie Potts (Law & Order: SVU), Emmy and Golden Globe winner Tony Shalhoub (Monk), and Emmy nominee Jeanne Tripplehorn (Big Love).

In time for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Black Movie Month, “Lili”/Five seems like a great way to acknowledge both. Will you be tuning in?
