Tonight, Kings County Cinema Society presents a night of new and old films representing Accra, Ghana and Dakar, Senegal.

The program includes Bikelordz, a short documentary on the self-taught, self-invented bicycle culture embraced by youth in Accra, Blitz the Ambassador and Terence Nance’s musical narrative Native Son, and Badou Boy, a 1970 French New Wave-influenced coming-of-age story.

The event takes place at Launchpad, a snug yet sociable space in Brooklyn, New York’s Crown Heights neighborhood. It’s free and open to the public.

“I’m particularly happy we’re doing this night at LaunchPad, one of my favorite venues to host,” says Nick Shimkin of Kings County Cinema Society. “It’s such a wonderful art and community space, and a great spot to show locally-produced (and family-friendly) fare like this.”
