Star of stage and screen (big and small) Colman Domingo has joined the cast of Lee Daniels' The Butler, playing one of the White House butlers who work in the Executive Mansion.

You may recall that, in 2010 it was announced that Daniels wanted to produce a film based on the controversial Broadway musical, The Scottsboro Boys, which Colman Domingo was featured in and received a Tony nomination for his work in that show.

Not sure if Daniels is still planning on a film adaptation; at the time it was announced, he was said to be in "early conversations" to develop it, but nothing further.

All that to make a connection between Daniels and Domingo leading up to this casting in The Butler.

Domingo joins the already star-studded cast that includes: Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, David Oyelowo, Matthew McConaughey, John Cusack, Alan Rickman, Terence Howard, Cuba Good Jr., Jane Fonda, Nicole Kidman, Lenny Kravitz, and Jess Williams.

Kidman just worked with Daniels in The Paperboy by the way; as did Oyelowo and McConaughey. Oyelowo is scheduled to star as MLK in Daniels' "in limbo" MLK project, Selma. So Colman might be in good company, as Daniels seems to like working with the same actors repeatedly.

The Butler (based on the life of White House butler Eugene Allen who served eight US Presidents during his tenure) is scheduled to begin principal photography this month.

Whitaker will play Allen in the film. Oprah Winfrey is his wife.

Up next for Domingo is a part in Spike Lee’s Red Hook Summer, the Jackie Robinson biopic 42 and Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln. He may not be a household name, but he's busy, and talented.
