After getting ridiculed for the bald spot on the back of his head, Tory Lanez said he has alopecia. The rapper went to Twitter on Wednesday to defend himself from the mockery.

“I’m fully aware of the bald spot in the back of my head guys,” he wrote. “i rap about it all the time …it’s alopecia…. What’s the big deal.”

Alopecia has been a trending topic in recent days as the nation continues to buzz about Will Smith who slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars after the comedian made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s medical condition. Jada has been using her platform to raise awareness of alopecia, the condition that causes hair loss. As Blavity previously reported, the Hollywood star has been talking about the challenge on her Red Table Talk series.

“Well, I’ve been having issues with hair loss,” the actress said in 2018. “It was terrifying when it first started. I was in the shower one day and then just handfuls of hair just in my hands. … It was one of those times in my life that I was literally shaking with fear.”

However, after revealing he has alopecia, Lanez’s fans responded on Twitter.

 

Many of Lanez’s fans are also coming to defend him.

As Blavity previously reported, Lanez was taken into custody this week after a judge said the rapper violated a protection order in the Megan Thee Stallion shooting case. According to the judge, Lanez’s social media activity shows clear messages directed at Megan.

The 29-year-old artist faced accusations in 2020 when Megan said she sustained injuries after Lanez fired shots at her.
