Some chose to gift their loved ones parties or cake on their special day, but one group of men decided to give their friend a particularly touching gift. A TikTok video of the group of friends presenting their friend with the gift has gone viral, for good reason — it’s a tearjerker.

Posted by one of the friends, Leon Benfield, the video opens with the group standing around a car with an open trunk. The friends chuckle in the background, visibly excited for their friend to open the gift. TikTok audio quickly sets the scene, explaining that the group surprised their “homeboy with an early birthday gift.”

At first, the birthday boy thought it was joke. When they handed a black bag over to him, he was quick to put it back into the trunk.

After a good amount of convincing, the birthday boy finally came around and reached into the bag. He picked up a small box, which he opened and saw a chain with a picture of his childhood friend.

“My man lost his childhood friend a couple years ago so we decided to surprise him with an early birthday gift,” the post read.

He took a few seconds to process the gift and began to walk away.

“That’s your man bro,” they said as he held back tears. “We ain’t playing you.”

The video concludes with the birthday boy dapping up his friends, thanking them for the meaningful gift.

Throughout the clip, his friends urged him to keep it together and not cry. Viewers, on the other hand, confessed they shed a few themselves.

One user, who appears to be a part of the close-knit friend group, also commented on the video.

“Always come through for my boys man too much love to spread in this life,” they wrote with heart emoji.

Another noted that the birthday boy’s reaction shows how foreign it is for men to receive appreciation, especially from other men.

“This shows just how little men and young men alike get shown appreciation and gratitude. Most of us don’t know how to handle it when it comes,” they commented.

On Twitter, users were searching for the friends behind the beautiful gesture. Benfield eventually replied to a tweet including the video and thanked viewers for their support.

“This me y’all appreciate the love on our video,” he wrote.
