I’d almost completely forgotten about this flick; In theaters January 13, 2012, Joyful Noise is an upcoming musical dramedy, Joyful Noise, which stars Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton, as two dueling choir members of a small-town’s Gospel Choir, who have differing opinions on how to win the national choir competition; sparks fly when Dolly’s grandson proposes big changes to the choir and falls in love with Queen Latifah’s daughter!

Keke Palmer of Akeelah And The Bee fame will play Latifah’s daughter; Jesse L. Martin plays her husband; Courney B. Vance and others, also co-star.

Filming took place in Atlanta, GA, under the direction of Todd Graff from his script for Warner Bros subsidiary, Alcon Entertainment.

It’ll be in theaters in January 2012, but no specific day yet.

Here’s the film’s very first trailer; by the way, if you missed my post on it, I’m chilling with what I’m calling “knee-jerk 2011;” I’m sure you can figure out what I mean by that; if not, ask somebody 🙂 So I’ve decided to hold off all commentary on new films we post until I actually see them (assuming I do); let’s see how long I can keep to that agreement I made with myself. “My name is Tambay Obenson and I’ve been *clean* for about 24 hours now.” But who’s with me?
