Transgender activists are speaking out in response to a recent, brutal assault on an LGBTQ+ teen in Pompano Beach.
For the second time, a transgender teenager named Chad Sanford was brutally attacked by other teenagers from their school and neighborhood. The latest attack was captured on video and received a similar response on social media as the first attack, ABC10 reports.
However, social and LGBTQ+ activists are demanding this hate stop. Morgan Mayfaire of TransSocial, says parents should teach their children to be more accepting and loving.
“Teach your children to be more accepting and more loving,” said Mayfaire. “Where is the violence coming from? Where is all the hatred coming from?

Mayfaire and Quami Crawford of the McKenzie Project said they had offered Chad’s family counseling and mentorship programs to help and protect them.
“I think that the broader community can take this story and learn the message of love,” said Crawford.
“It’s important that people understand that Chad is not the first child that’s been beaten for being trans, or gay. Many of us have gone through that, and many children go through that, and it needs to stop,” Mayfaire added.

Two of the three teenagers seen assaulting Sanford have been arrested and hit with felony charges.
The two teenage boys, ages 15 and 16, have been charged with battery and a crime of prejudice. If convicted, the teens could face multiple years in prison.
Detectives are still searching for two more suspects.
