The Cactus Jack Foundation HBCU Celebrity Softball Classic will be held at Minute Maid Park on Feb. 16, 2023. The Astros Foundation and Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack Foundation have partnered to sponsor the event.

On the opening weekend of the college baseball season, multiple historically Black colleges and universities will compete in the Classic, a round-robin tournament showcasing their baseball programs.

Texas Southern University, Prairie View A&M University, Southern University and A&M College, Grambling State University, Jackson State University and Mississippi Valley State University are among the historically Black colleges and universities expected to participate.

Money raised will go to Travis Scott’s Waymon Webster Scholarship Fund, which helps pay the remaining college costs for seniors attending historically Black colleges and universities so they can graduate on schedule and bears the name of his grandfather who attended Prairie View A&M and served as its dean.

According to FOX26, Scott’s family has a long history of involvement with and support for HBCUs. His sister graduated from Howard University last year; his father attended Prairie View A&M, where his brother is currently enrolled, and his mother attended Grambling University.
