Travis Scott Working With Law Enforcement After Being Sought For Allegedly Punching A Sound Engineer, Causing $12K Of Damage To NYC Club

The rapper allegedly punched a sound engineer and caused thousands of dollars of damage to a Manhattan nightclub, and his rep says it is a "misunderstanding."

Travis Scott’s team says he is cooperating after he was sought by the New York Police Department for an incident at a Manhattan nightclub.

NYPD was reportedly looking for Scott, NBC New York reports, after he allegedly punched a sound engineer and caused thousands of dollars in damage.

According to authorities, Scott argued with the engineer in the early morning hours. The situation soon escalated, culminating in the rapper allegedly punching the engineer in the face. An official report refers to the incident as an assault and criminal mischief, TMZ notes.

According to the victim, identified only as Mark, Scott flipped him off before he punched him in the head, Fox 5 News reports.

“I was trying to tell him to lower it so it sounded good for the performance,” he told the outlet from a New Jersey hospital. “But he just stuck his middle finger in my face, so I lowered the monitor a little bit so I could talk to him, and that’s when he ran around the speaker and attacked me.”

Mark also said his “neck is f**ked up. My arm is tingling. I have pins and needles going down it.”

TMZ has also acquired multiple videos that show Scott at the club, clearly upset with someone in the DJ booth. Minutes before the attack, he pushed someone in the chest (presumably the sound engineer), yelling, “Back the f**k off.” A witness told the outlet that Scott had taken over DJing at the club, and he got angry after someone lowered the volume on his playlist.

Another source told Page Six that the ordeal caused “a big commotion between Travis’ security and club security.” They told the outlet that after the punch, Scott “took the phone from one fan,” and “threw the phone on the floor.”

Authorities claim Scott caused $12,000 in damage to a speaker and video screen before leaving the club, NBC New York reports. Video footage includes the alleged attack the rapper did on the video boards.

According to Page Six, Scott has not been arrested for the altercation. Instead, Scott’s lawyer, Mitchell Schuster, is chalking up the whole thing to a “misunderstanding.”

“While this is clearly a misunderstanding being blown out of proportion by clickbait and misinformation, we are actively working with the venue and law enforcement to resolve and set the record straight. We are confident our client will be cleared of any wrongdoing,” he said.

According to Fox 5, Scott will perform at a California music festival on Friday.
