Will Smith’s infamous Oscars slap may have happened weeks ago, but there are people still making jokes about it.
During the White House Correspondents’ Dinner which took place on April 30, comedian and The Daily Show host Trevor Noah cracked a joke about the slap heard around the world while headlining the star-studded dinner.
Will Smith sent shockwaves around the world when he slapped Chris Rock during this year's Oscars.
Back in March, actor Will Smith made headlines around the world when he got up and struck comedian Chris Rock onstage during the 94th Academy Awards.
The slap came immediately after Rock cracked a joke about the shaved head of Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, who previously opened up about alopecia.
“Keep my wife’s name out your f***ing mouth,” Smith yelled after striking Rock.
Trevor Noah said he was 'worried' about making jokes in his speech at the White House Correspondents' dinner.
Seeing as Chris Rock’s joke about Jada Pinkett Smith caused an uproar at this year’s Oscars, Trevor Noah had some reservations about including a funny punchline in his speech during the White House Correspondents’ dinner.
While giving his speech at the event, Noah noted that he was “worried” about joking about people at this year’s dinner, going on to reference the Will Smith and Chris Rock incident.
“It is risky making jokes these days,” Noah said. “I mean, we all saw what happened at the Oscars.”
“I’ve actually been a little worried about tonight,” he added. “What if I make a really mean joke about Kellyanne Conway, and then her husband rushes up on the stage and thanks me?”
In addition to Smith and Rock, Noah also took aim at several high-profile figures during his 25-minute speech, including former President Donald Trump, Fox News host Tucker Carlson, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
